A slave forever
Remains chained to her master
For what is the value of light
If she cannot cast a shadow?

Oh, I don’t know how I missed this comment. What is Maya jaal?

Oh Sonya ji, your poems are great in that one can see in them like a mirror one self or get lost like in a maze, always searching and in the end forgetting what one was searching and even why. I could see in this one the man’s eternal chase of the worldly shadows like riches, comfort, glory, lust etc. All these are referred to as maya jaal (maya= worldly gains, jaal= net)

Well, I learnt a new phrase, which is as beautiful as the message in your comment. Many, many thanks for teaching and encouraging me.

Deep and meaningful – who the slave, who the master? Can one ever be unshackled from the other? Is that enlightenment?

Dear Sonya,
This poem, for me, conveys quite some depth in regard to us, as shadows of the Light.
All good wishes,
