This is a poem written by Allama Muhammad Iqbal ~ a child’s prayer very famous in Pakistan. How I wish we could spread this message to all our children.

Beautiful… just beautiful… “Naik jo raah ho us raah pe chalaana mujhko” What a beautiful prayer/wish! Thank you for the reminder… I had heard this many times before but had not really gone deeper to connect it with Allama Iqbal… And, you are right :-) this message needs to be spread to all the children…

I am so glad that you appreciated this message.
Iqbal considered children as unique and important, but it is so unfortunate that in that same land, the girl child is denied education, young students were mercilessly killed (Peshawar) and children are being abused by the “men of god”. The world must strongly condemn this.

I am sure you remember my post “About childlike innocence…” in December which was my lament to the unfortunate plight of those children.

Dear Sonya,
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful, prayerful poem.
A candle burns, a flower blooms…what powerful images to depict the unfolding of a person’s being!
Thank you again.
All good wishes,
