Here I Am

Where Are You?

Night after night

I watch the moon set

Stars going to rest

My eyes are burning

My ears are yearning

To hear your footsteps

Trying to locate them

In the heartbeats within

Where are you?

***

Here I Am

I am the moon that you wistfully watch

I am the stars that you gaze at, in melancholy

I am the apple of your eye

I am within your soundless breath

I am the footprint of your steps

It is only in your longing that I exist

Let your heart beat only for me

This is a poetic interaction between Yagneshji and myself.

I read his post Where Are You and spontaneously my response flowed. He writes poetry so beautifully and I assure you he is a natural born story teller. Check out his blog and you will not be disappointed.

  1. Sonya, I really dont know how to thank you.I am nowhere as good as you make it out to be.
I was initially inspired by Kunal to scribble something and then I received gteat support
from people like you. I am simply overwhelmed. A big THANK YOU again.

  2. Sonya thanks for sharing this… I love the honesty of the connection between the poems. It reminds me of the contemporary Chinese buddhist Axilamu Dodo and her poem which I admire:
You see, or don’t see me, I am still there, neither happy nor sad.
You understand, or don’t understand me, the emotion is still there, neither coming nor going
You love, or don’t love me, love is yet there, neither more nor less.
You are with me, or not with me, my hand is still in your hand, not abandoned, not forsaken.
    (my translation from the Chinese).

  3. Dear Sonya,

    What a beautiful interpretation!

We are *never* as far away, as we think, from what we seek.

    All good wishes,
