Yesterday’s prompt was War, for Peace. Here is my contribution:
Seems like it’s easier to go to war,
for peace requires restraint,
forgiveness, forgetting
and moving on
But which will make you happier?
Which reminded me of what my younger daughter had declared (at age 7):
Peace smells like ice cream
And here is the poem that my elder daughter wrote at age 12 :

Peace out
Oh wait…Sometimes you have to fight for peace
Dear Sonya,
Thank you very much for sharing these poems. I like what you’re shared.
So true…we must fight for peace. And yet, as your poem highlights, it’s so very easy to destroy. It’s more difficult to build.
Which might make us happier? Clearly, destruction brings something satisfying to those who destroy.
This brings back to mind something in Data Ganj Bakhsh’s “Kashf al-Mahjub” in which he shares: “Happiness is only happiness when it leads to the Giver of happiness.”
All good wishes,
robert

Thank you Robert for that wonderful quote. As always, I become aware of so much from your visits and comments.

Lovely poem and the choice at the end really ought to be straightforward for all of us? It would be great if we all fought with ourselves to restrain, forgive and forget… Thanks for this gem!

Absolutely! The fight needs to be within ourselves. Thank you so much.
