anger is an innocent monster
slipping out in an instant
hurting without intending to
too arrogant for apologies
cruel, but blameless
for it was bred
in an uncontrolled mind
that lives in the past
fretting of the future
anger is little more
than ego’s response
the slightest dent
sets a blinding rage
silence our pride
tame the mind
ask “is it really worth it?
will it even matter tomorrow?”
for words echo
long after they are forgotten

Thank you very much for this. Interestingly, Marcus Aurelius says that wrong acts stemming from anger are, so to speak, more forgivable than acts stemming from desire. The former occurs as if suddenly overtaking one, while the other can seem more planned.
I like this post a lot. Lots of wisdom present here. Practical too. The post brings me back into a remembrance of Hazrat Ali.

Wow thank you Sreejit. I really appreciate your comments, more so as I wrote it pretty much off the top of my head trying to make it just in time for your weekly prompt. The first verse was a micropoem I had written and extending it into a full poem felt so right.
