You and I

You and I
Born on the same earth
In different times
Yet we met
For a while

You and I
Living lonely lives
In distant lands
Yet we were friends
For a while

You and I
Secrets within stories
Spoke diverse tongues
Yet we understood
For a while

You and I
Connected in a dream
Woke to separate realities
Yet we loved
For a while

You and I
Descendants of a prior dimension
Two souls thrown apart
Destiny we defied
For a while

You and I
Followed different faiths
Recognized they were One
Why then can we not be together
For a while
Forever?

  1. The first word that described our awareness and our consciousness was I, but our world view was limited until our I knew the word you. Word You actually was extension of our understand of ourselves it actually gave us an insight into ourselves. You is actually mirror of our I and we cannot know ourselves in absence of You.

The poem speaks about this most tender relationship which harnesses us as warp and weft that makes this beautiful fabric known as life.

  2. Greetings,

This is beautiful. I don’t know what compels the poet (you) to write certain things. I’m just glad that you are compelled.

For me, these words convey a crossroads at which there are meetings. Conveyed here are connections, old and new.

    Thank you for this.

    All good wishes,

    robert
